Blog 8: 30 years into the Future!

Its and average Monday morning and my alarm goes off around 7:00 am, my clock keeps flying around my head because I don’t want to wake up. After I finally catch my clock I set it down and make me pick out my outfit while I’m in the bathroom getting my teeth brushed by my tooth brush and get my hair combed at the same time with the same tool. After all of that I get dressed and get on my hover craft to go downstairs and take the scramble egg, bacon, and orange juice pills and get back on my hover craft to take me to my car. My car is a older version of a flying car but hey it gets my from point A to point B. After to getting to school 3 minutes before class started I hoped on my hover craft again and got to class under 1 minute. In today’s class we learned how to make ourselves into holograms without messing up our cell count, took awhile but I got it down pack. After this class I went to my next class where we learned how to make a mini robot and take him home! I wasn’t able to take mine home though because it wouldn’t stop flying around unless I throw something at it. I went to Subway after class and got a meatball sub with a soft drink, it took 2 pills alone for the meatball but it was so good and filling. After lunch I had to go back home and change to go to work which I was already running late for. So I pushed a few buttons and had my outfit picked out and ready for me hanging outside, I run and grab them then I put my car in co-polite so I can change in the back seat. When I got to work I turned back all the clocks so I was on time. After being at work for 5 hours I go home to an amazing home cooked meal waiting for me on the table. It’s a piece of gum that is a 3 course meal. It was simple amazing. After having a extremely busy day, I passed out on the table and as soon as that happened, my loyal robots take me and put me into bed so I can wake up again and do it all over.

UP!

If you are a fan of kids movies like myself you will love this movie!!! It is probably one of the best movies I have seen, next to Finding Nemo of course. This movie is about this child that meets a girl that is very advantages and loves to go outside and play, she is always talking about going on an advantage of her own when she gets older and has an advantage book and all; when he is very shy and quiet, they get together as they get older and get married and live a very happy life but then when he is an older man he loses his wife and basically himself. He has the same routine every day and doesn't change it up. He lives in a house that is right in the middle of this huge construction site and this big shot guy wants to buy it from him so he can make his shopping center. This old man is so stubborn that he isn't leaving at all. Then comes along this little boy names Russell, he is a wilderness boy scout. He is the cutest thing and only needs one more badge! The badged he needs is to help the elderly badged, so he decides to help the older man. The older man is all against it and doesn't want help from him. So after the boy leaves, you see all these balloons come out of the old mans house and he fly away!! Where is he going you ask? He is going to the top of an mountain that he wife wanted to always go to when she was a younger girl, he promised her that he would take her; but since she isn't around anymore he decides to take the whole house with him since it reminds him or her so much. While in the air, the older man hears a knock on the door, who else could it be but Russell! He hide under the older mans house in tell he came out so he could help him, but when the house started going up he went along with it. The older man and Russell become friends and travel to this mountain so he can place the house there, but on the trip over some of the balloons start to pop so they decide to land and walk the house to and edge and then keep on flying. On this island, Russell wont stop asking questions about why the older man is taking the house there and why he is with him and keeps on asking him for help so he can get his badge! When they are walking though, the hear things in the bushes and it freaks them both out but since Russell is a wilderness boy scout he knows what to do! What comes out you ask? A huge bird! Russell names him Kevin, Kevin loves chocolate and follows them around because Russell has chocolate. During this walk, everyone hears cries coming from far away and Kevin cries back to them and runs towards the noise, Russell comes to find out the Kevin in a girl and has 3 babies. Still walking, the older man meets one of his childhood hero's that knows where the mountain is to drop off the house! The man though is a very mean and does very mean things to the older mans house and balloons so that the older man isn't able to get to the mountain....or does he?!

You have to see the movie and find out the ending because I have told you enough already! I recommend you seeing it if you loved Finding Nemo!!!

Security versus civil liberties # 3

I don't agree with Posner at all. Posner wants our nation to have security at times where he feels like we need it the most, for example, right after 9/11. I think we need it way after we are attacked. I feel this way because during 9/11, we came together as a nation and we became strong and stood side by side; almost 9 years have gone by since 9/11 has happened and i fell like we are more vulnerable now then every before. We are just sitting around thinking everything is going to be good since we have troops over in Iraq for some odd reason. I bet some people don't even know why we have troops over there in the first place. I also don't agree with Posner when he starts talking about our rights as a citizen, i feel like we don't have as many rights as we did before. When it comes to freedom of speech, we should just take that off the Bill of Rights. After 9/11 our airports have been so strict of passengers, which i love and totally agree with; but when a citizen that was born and raised in the United States looks like a Muslim or someone that is from the Mid-East will be watched and eyed down just because of the way they look which is completely wrong. I'm surprised they pilot doesn't ask them to get off the plane. I feel like the United States isn't standing up to its standards like it once did and its very disappointing to saw but its the way I see it.

Immokalee: My Home

I feel like the "communities" that are being represented here are travelers. Which to me is immigrants now. The Indians back in the day would come down to the south during the winter because their crops would freeze over in the north. After traveling down here so much, they decide just to stay here and make their life here. Which in today's world, people from Mexico, or China or anywhere else in world come to America to make a life for themselves.
I grew up in the Bronx, New York and it was completely different then the way Immokalee is. I feel that Immokalee is a place where people came with nothing a built something amazing. When i was living in New York, thing were already done with and everyone minded their own business, but in Immokalee, it seemed that people would help each other out. The natives would help the travelers and the travelers would do the same for the natives.
Immokalee seems to represent the old and the new American Dream. It represents the old American dream because it shows how native Americans came down to Florida to make something of themselves and they native Americans would learn to be like a Floridan and make nice with neighbors and travelers. They would try to fit in, just like in the old American dream; but their story represents the new American dream because it shows how when the native Americans came down to Florida they tried to keep some on their customs.
FARMING! Is what is going to drive Immokalees future. It seems to be working for over 100 years and I feel like its never going to end because Immokalee is a perfect place to crop fields and bring in food to Publix's and other well known shopping centers.
I think Immokalee is going to be in the same place it is now because it hasn't changed in such along time. It is going to be the place to get food from crops and be the swap lands that people love.

1st blog hw.( A Quilt of a Country:Out of Many, One?)

I feel like the author is trying to say to her readers is that, even though America has so many different types of people from different backgrounds and up brings, that we still unity when something tragic happens. She also talks about, that during school or when you are outside plating as a little child, that we seem to avoid people that don't look like we do. In New York especially, there is a place called China town, Italian street, then not to mention all the little burrows that they live in. You're going to have a place where all the blacks live and where all the Irish people live, and the Spanish and so forth, but at the end of the day we are all American. The author also says that you see Arabs driving Jewish people around and Jewish people driving Arabs around, but back in there home countries, they hate each other and cant stand one another, but at the end of the day when the twin towers fell, the Arab and Jewish person probably helped each other during hard times.

I really like this short story a lot because I'm from New York and i know that at nights you don't go down certain streets and you don't talk to certain people, and where i lived was where mostly Spanish people lived so i was never worried about anything, but i think it was always amazing to know that we still to this day have places where every race lives in its own burrow. But that is how America works at times, but then at the end of the day we come together to support our nation.
